General CBD FAQs
What is CBD?
CBD is an abbreviation for Cannabidiol. CBD one of many different molecules known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant and is non-psychoactive.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is a natural oil which is extracted from the flowers, leaves and stems of the plant. It is used by people all over the world for a variety of purposes.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are active compounds produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids, while cannabinoids produced by the human body are called endocannabinoids. Cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which promotes homeostasis. CBD impacts the ECS indirectly by activating outside receptors and interacting with enzymes.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The human endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a system of neurotransmitters and cell membrane receptors. Neurotransmitters such as endocannabinoids are produced by the central nervous system and interacts with cannabinoids receptors on cell membranes to adjust physiological processes at a cellular level. There are two types of cannabinoid receptors in your body:
1. CB1 receptors – found mostly in the brain and central nervous system (CNS)
- 2. CB2 receptors – found throughout the rest of the body in organs, glands, and the immune system
What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis. Marijunana contains cannabidiol Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which causes the high and is known as a drug. However, hemp contains negligible amounts of THC and is unlikely to cause a high. All our products undergo continuous testing to ensure THC levels are below 0.2%.
Will CBD get me high?
No. Unlike marijuana and THC, CBD is non-psychotropic and will not cause a high.
What type of CBD do your products use and do they contain THC?
At Drops of Heal, our passion is providing you with the best bioavailable CBD! We use different methods of infusing CBD in order to yield high strength products. Our MCT Multivitamin drops and Turmeric Honey use Full Spectrum Distillate. Hemp distillate is cannabis oil that has been refined in order to be cannabinoid dominant. Our Olive Oil has full spectrum oil therefore it retains an array of cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. Our edible products contain trace amounts (below the legal limit of 0.2%) of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Our cosmetic products (Muscle Rub Gel and the Joint Relief Cream) are made with cannabidiol isolate which therefore do not contain any THC. CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD. If you are conscious of your THC intake yet still want the perfect CBD product, try our cosmetic products!
How do you extract your CBD from your hemp?
We use a process called supercritical Co2 extraction. Co2 extraction is the process of separating components from each other by the use of a particular type of solvent (Co2). This can be used to pull various cannabinoids from the plant such as THCA, CBD, CBG, THCV as well as terpenes and other compounds. Our hemp crop used for the extraction process does not undergo any harsh removal, leaving the integrity of the compound in its purest form.
What does broad spectrum mean?
Broad spectrum refers to CBD oil products that contain a combination of cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds found in hemp.
What does full spectrum mean?
Full spectrum CBD oil retains all cannabinoids including trace amounts of THC present in the hemp plant. Legally this amount of THC must always be less than 0.2%. Full spectrum is desired by many due to the entourage effect. This entourage effect occurs when compounds in the hemp plant – including cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids – work together to produce even greater effects than just CBD alone.
What is the entourage effect?
Full spectrum CBD oils contain a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes as well as other beneficial compounds. Each of the compounds has particular effects on the human body. As terpenes can affect how the body responds to cannabinoids, the combined effect is often greater than the sum of the individual effects. The overall effect produced is termed the entourage effect.
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are a class of volatile hydrocarbon compounds produced in the flower clusters of the cannabis plant. Terpenes are what give cannabis its distinct aromas and have been utilised by humans for millennia in aromatherapy. Terpenes are recognised as safe for human consumption by UK law.

We recommend storing them in a cool place away from direct sunlight and heat, which can degrade certain compounds in CBD oil.
